The
FreeResidential Vocational
Training Centre for the Adult Blind:
A Government sponsored co-educational training
centre, started in 1987.
The
CBR Training Centre
for Professionals: Sponsored
by Sight Savers International, Mumbai, it was
started
in 1994 and has so far rehabilitated 539 blind
persons.
The Teacher’s
Training Centre (Primary) for the Visually
Impaired:
A co-educational institution set up with approval
from the Rehabilitation Council of India and
the
National Institute for the Visually Handicapped,and
State Govt. it started functioning in 2000.
The Training
Centre for Computerised Braille Transcription: It
was set up in 2002 and is the only training
centre
of its kind in West Bengal. It has till date
produced 215 books in Braille and has opened
new avenues
for higher education for the visually impaired.
